4K — also called UHD — packs roughly four times the pixels of Full HD. On a big living-room TV that means noticeably sharper detail, richer colour and cleaner motion, especially on nature documentaries, blockbuster films and premium sport.
Do you actually need 4K?
It depends on two things: your screen and your seat. On a 55-inch or larger TV viewed from a normal distance, 4K is a clear upgrade. On a phone or a small kitchen TV, high-bitrate Full HD looks virtually identical. A good IPTV service gives you both, so you're never forced into a stream your setup can't use.
The internet speed you'll need
- SD: ~5 Mbps
- Full HD (1080p): ~10–15 Mbps
- 4K UHD: ~25 Mbps and up
Most Nordic households on fibre comfortably clear this. If several people stream at once, add headroom.

You'll want a 4K-capable device: Firestick 4K/Max, an Android TV box, Apple TV 4K, or a modern Smart TV. An older 1080p stick will still work beautifully in Full HD.
Our take
4K is worth it for film nights and big matches on a large screen — and Scandinavia IPTV includes 4K feeds at no extra cost. But don't obsess over it: a stable, high-bitrate HD stream that never buffers beats a 4K stream that stutters every time. We optimise for both.
